One of the easiest ways to promote yourself and your websites is to join forums and introduce yourself.
The benefits to you are:
1 You will get most people attention in the forum when you introduce yourself . 2. The forum members can check out your Sig file 3. The forum members can also check out your websites 4. Most Important, you can meet new friend. 5. etc......
After you have joined the forum by all means welcome the new members who introduce themselves to the forum.

1. join a forum and don't make any posting. 2. Not using your sig file. 3. Not listing your website. 4. Most important, not participating in the forums. 5. etc.....

Hi All,
I once said that using a "Sig File" is one of the easiest ways to promote your products or services.
But, it's really the easiest way to promote your products, services, and websites if you visit various forums that allow you to use a sig file.
If you want to experience the power of your "Sig File", you will need to track your links.
To me a "Sig File" is like your business card that you hand out to others when you meet them.
My journey on the net to various forums I have found out that this is one form of advertising (Sig file) that people miss out on.
You can imagine my response when I here people in forums ask how they can better promote their products or services (When they have posting of 500+ without using a Sig file).
Yes, I respond by saying, start using your Sig file and you will instantly increase your promotion.
Or, I see people quoting the amount of money they're making but they don't use a Sig File or website in their posting to forums. This tell me that they are paying money for advertising rather than taking advantage of Free Advertising.
It would be to people's advantage to use Free advertising in addition to paid advertising.
How much do it cost to use a "Sig File"?.....Nothing!
How much effort is it to include a "Sig File" in your posting?.....Not much!
Folks, this is a powerful form of advertising and it's......100% FREE!
Again, start using a "Sig File" if you haven't and start tracking the link in your sif file to feel the power of this form of Free Advertising!

It's true - you spend time at a forum posting information, joining in debates, proving yourself to be someone who know what they are talking about... and then don't provide a link to your own website in the sig block!
Why not?

I think I see what you're getting at with your sig question.
Answer is - you have totally overdone it!
Take out the "Currently involved with" - you might want people to go there but people won't be interested.
Don't bother with affiliate URLs in a sig either - that turns people off.
Use a link to your own website, blog, or a redirector to your main program.
My sig has my own site - which is also my name, I use an Opportunity.com redirector for my Opportunity - it's catchy - and a link to my forum. Sometimes I add my blog link.
Two is OK, you may get away with 3 if you post a lot of interesting posts, but a big block sig with more lines than your post is totally overdoing it and will turn people away - you will get less clicks to your main site than you will get more click to your various sites.

I 1000% disagree with Silke about affililate links being in your sig file. I think it's okay to use affiliate sig files, long ugly affiliate links, and etc in your sig file.
Silke must have forgot that ALL I promote are affiliate programs and use only affiliate links in my sig file with a long ugly ad tracker link.
Frankly, I don't think there's a wrong way to use a sig file, but some admins might only allow 2 to 3 inches and some admins don't allow no sig file (I don't visit those forum much).
Sorry, Silke I couldn't let that comment stand without me saying that I disagree about the affiliate links being a turn-off.
If that was the case how do YOU explain all of my sign-ups that I get with my sig file?

Again, I disagree, I don't think that you need any kind of re-director. These are just other people unique selling proposition (USP) to sell their programs and products.

As I mentioned earlier, I don't have any problems with the length of a Sig file, but other admins may allow 2-3 inches or no sig gile at all.

As you know Silke, I have done or I'm doing what most people say don't do like:
Don't Use a username
Don't Use FFA's
Don't Use Traffic Exchanges
Don't Use Classifieds
Don't Use long URL

Actually, Cap the fault is mine.
I didn't meant don't use affiliate links at all - what I mean is don't do what Kuttu did and have a block of various aff links like that together - that WILL turn people off. Nobody will click to ALL the different links like that - what he needs is to have ONE sig link to his own website - or a portal site like LinkScout - and THERE is the place where a prospect can see all his various programs promoted together. That is what you do after all. Your sig sends prospects to your LS suite.
As you say, affliate links are fine - using your SFI link as your sig if THAT is your website for example - what you are presenting as your website.
But a whole bunch of different links to different aff progs looks bad.
I found a better response using Silke247.Opportunity.com to present Silke's Opportunity but that is due to the way I brand myself and the way I write my posts and articles.
Here is a comment I got in an email from a signup last week:
"Hi Silke,
Nice name you have! Actually came by you via Gary Huynh's FORUM! Just clicked on your name/site and went to your Video Presentation and signed uP!! Now, is this SFI = Six Figure Income??? as I've heard about long ago & over'n'over!?! no prob, I'll check-it-out..."
So this was down to a person reading my post and then clicking through to my site from the sig.
He didn't really know what the prog was - you can see that from his comment - he didn't even really know what SFI was - but that is the point. I am not placing an "ad" - getting people to my gateway to sign up. This person liked what had written and decided to check out my program and join under me. The prog itself wasn't as important to him as the PERSON he was signing under.
As you say, "sigs to recruit" works fine.
But with anything there are ways to improve it, and that is what I'm suggesting.
It's not so much you "disagree" as we aren't taking opposing stances, it's just that I have adapted the method - and this is the kind of result I get.
But then I go for a more personal touch - I like to speak to affiliates by email, send them a personal welcome, where of course you prefer the more automated method.

I think if someone signs their name and has their email and website details below that is fine.
If their website is an affiliate URL that is fine.
What I believe is that seeing a big block of URLs - all different affiliate programs - will turn people off - and looks unprofessional.
However neither of us now uses affiliate URLs in our sigs and we both use various forums - we have both refined our approach.
What we do is two different approaches.
Your sig here has two links - and both are "titled" links - one leads to your LS suite where all your progs are promoted together.
My sig has links to my website - which is my name, my "Opportunity" - which IS my SFI gateway, and my forum - The Stork - and the name can be clearly seen.
I'm not saying my way is better - it is just different - I like the personal touch of using my face and name when I can.
But either way everyone knows who "Silke" and "CaptKirk" are - and NOBODY can argue that our methods are not the best and most effective!

From my experience of using forums to meet NEW friends and share ideas, I have found that forums are a great way to meet the movers and shakers on the net.
You only need a few movers and shakers in your downline, joint ventures, or etc to set the programs you're promoting on...FIRE!
In other words, forums have the potential to be...AWESOME!

I agree with joining forums, but not only as a recruiting tool, it's the best way to make new friends & form ideas & plans. It's all well n good joining programme after programme, but unless you know a lot of people, it is very difficult to recruit. (as least it is for me)

I'm finding forums very interesting. So many great people can actually have a real voice instead of a constant sales pitch. It's a great way to let everyone know what you're all about.
And, Yep! sig files are a MUST... I think I forgot to create mine for this forum... lol... I'm off to get that done!

hi there, you are right. Forum is a good technique for promoting your site but there are also some other techniques that can promote your site like free submission, article submission, link exchange, etc...

Some other ideas may be using social networking sites like Facebook, Myspace, LinkedIn to create a profile and sells your products or service over there. You can also use them as a communication channel to your customer as Well! . The most popular today is SEO or PPC advertising.
